Viareggio has an ancient heritage regarding ships building, and the sea, as long as the carnival, are the main tourist attractions. Viareggio took advantages from naval engineering, utilizing Masters carpenters skills to built giant Carnival floats.

International Sculpture Biennale 2010 in Carrara (June – September)

This year the exhibition is curated by Fabio Cavallucci, former director of the Galleria Civica in Trento, coordinator of Manifesta and promoter of major national and international projects. This personality can give a wider breath to this Biennale, situated in one of most precious worldwide area for white marble.

Florence Korea Film Fest 2010 (12 – 20 March)

Florence Korea Film fest Korea is back to Florence, with its creative production. This year the Florence Korea Film FestFestival of South Korean Cinema in Italy comes to its eighth edition. It will open from 12th to 20th March 2010, displaying Korea from cinema to music and horror culture.

The festival is organized by Taegukgi, an association conducted by Riccardo Gelli, artistic director that this year presents a large retrospective with the whole work of Hur Jin-ho, who directed some of the most successful horror films in Korea. Keeping high attention on independent filmakers, the festival focuses on most recent award-winning works, but also it offers latest masterpiece from Park Chan-wook.

Vino Nobile from Montepulciano goes in the Museum

montepulciano winesVino Nobile from Montepulciano is a special red wine, one of the jewels of Tuscany, dating back in Etruscan age. It is protected with a Docg (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) and appreciated worldwide since its production has been developed in the sixties. Sangiovese, here called Prugnolo Gentile (70%), and Canaiolo Nero (20%) are the two grape varieties combined in this superb wine.

Today Montepulciano opens the doors of its main museum – Pinacoteca Crociani, to the world of wine. From February 18th the museum will become a theatre and a meeting point between producers and consumers of Vino Nobile. 30 companies will display their specialities, experts, journalists and gourmet from around the world will elect what will be the protagonists in local wine’s production.

Network Sonoro 2010

It has been presented these days, the sixth edition of ‘Network Sonoro’, a platform that includes over fifty events distributed throughout the region. The list of prestigious artists participating is full of great names, from Pat Metheny to Stefano Bollani, from Paolo Fresu to Roscoe Mitchell, Ginevra Di Marco, Eumir Deodato and Philiph Harper Quartet.

The festival will spread mainly through February and March in Arezzo, Siena, Pisa, Grosseto, Massa and Florence provinces. Mostly devoted to jazz, it develops a vision on experimental music too, involving particular meetings between musicians.
