It will take place near Prato, from November 28 to December 8, Fiera di Carmignano – The art of taste … the taste of the art. This is an important appointement whit typical products of the Province of Prato and Montalbano territory.
Hills around Prato, used by the Medici family, are the first place where sangiovese married cabernet, creating a wine with more than three centuries of history. That’s Carmignano, one of the oldest and smallest DOCG of Europe.
In the heart of autumn people celebrates with chestnuts, figs buckets and wine. A whole land turns itself into a big table prepared with the classic ‘fettunta’, that is a large slice of toasted bread with new oil. ‘Necci‘ are the fritters made with chestnut flour with ricotta cheese and ‘Castagnaccio‘, spiced chestnut cake or ‘Migliacci‘, specialities with pig blood.
Prato is also the place of cookies, pastries, cheeses, meats and jams, chestnuts and craft beers. Biscuits and other delicacies are to be bought on the benches just enjoying the shows or in the shops, pastry shops, clubs and restaurants in the country.
During the fair you will be able to taste and buy. There will be exhibits, antique shops in the central square and Christmas Market. Museum of the vine and wine will be opened and you’ll have also the opportunity to visit La Visitazione, one of Pontormo masterpieces.
