Accademia Musicale Chigiana is an important musical institution in Siena. It was founded by the Count Guido Chigi Saracini in 1932. Its first aim is the organization of courses for major musical instruments. The founder managed to call in Siena great musicians to teach in high quality masterclasses of Accademia Chigiana.
One of the Chigiana public events is “Micat in Vertice” that starts places every year in the end of autumn. As a tradition, the first concert is on November 22, in the the feast of St.Cecilia at the Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena.This year mezzo soprano Romina Basso will be accompanied by the Venice Baroque Orchestra.
The second appointment is on 4 December, in the historical Palazzo Chigi Saracini with Bennewitz String Quartet, who presents a program based on Mendelssohn and Beethoven. On 11 December at Teatro dei Rozzi the famous German pianist Alexander Lonquich will perform a big repertoire from Chopin to Alban Berg.
The program continues with the long-awaited Christmas concert on 18 December at Teatro dei Rozzi. Directed by Frans Bruggen, Orchestra della Toscana, Collegium Vocale Gent Choir and Accademia Chigiana, it proposes an absolute masterpiece like the Mass in C Minor K. 427 by Mozart.
On January 29 at Palazzo Chigi Saracini the Armenian duo Sergey Khachatryan (violin) and Lusine Khachatryan (piano) will perform Bach, Brahms and Beethoven. On February 12, again at the historical site of the Palazzo Chigi Saracini, the Michelangelo String Trio will be devoted to Beethoven and Mozart and on February 19 at Teatro dei Rozzi the Carnival concert will feature Berlin Comedian Harmonists-cabaret, arranging memorable Italian songs.
