Korea is back to Florence, with its creative production. This year the Florence Korea Film Fest – Festival of South Korean Cinema in Italy comes to its eighth edition. It will open from 12th to 20th March 2010, displaying Korea from cinema to music and horror culture.
The festival is organized by Taegukgi, an association conducted by Riccardo Gelli, artistic director that this year presents a large retrospective with the whole work of Hur Jin-ho, who directed some of the most successful horror films in Korea. Keeping high attention on independent filmakers, the festival focuses on most recent award-winning works, but also it offers latest masterpiece from Park Chan-wook.
Oil is a product well representing Tuscan territory, especially countryside. In Montecatini Terme on 28 and 29 November “Dolce Olio” Sweet Olive Oil, a Tasting Laboratory oriented towards experimentation and innovation in the kitchen.
New products, combining innovative techniques and quality olives, will be presented. They are all coming from Montecatini territory, in Pistoia Province. “Sweet Olive” is sponsored by the Ministry of Economic Development and it involves schools and industries in a new project, concerning innovative solutions in the field of food production.
Offering Vin Santo is one of the oldest gestures in Tuscan hospitality. A tradition that is still alive and Lo gradiresti un goccio di vin santo? Would you like a drop of vin santo? is a phrase containing a ritual that our fathers transmitted us. Vin santo means saint (or sacred) wine.
The sixth edition of Would you like a drop of vin santo? will take place from 5 to 8 December 2009 in Montefollonico in Siena Province. It’s just a few kilometers away from Torrita di Siena, positioned in the hills between Val di Chiana and Val d’Orcia. Montefollonico is a typical medieval village surrounded by ancient walls.
From 23 to 26 November in Florence “Lo Schermo dell’arte” (The display of art), a film festival dedicated to contemporary art, will be held. This is the second edition of a festival growing up for the quality of its contents.
“Lo Schermo dell’arte” has been set at Odeon cinema with the presence of great names like Alfred Jaar and Mark Lewis and important directors. All cinema and art lovers who want to combine participation in festival and a small holiday in Florence, this year for the “50 Days of International Cinema in Florence” can take advantage of special rates activated in agreement with B&Bs, hotels, restaurants and tourist guides associations.
The Region of Tuscany has instituted Festa della Toscana with a Decree in 2001, to commemorate the abolition of the death penalty on 30 November 1786. Granducato di Toscana, hold by Grand Duke Pietro Leopoldo, had been the first nation to abolish death penalty.
The promotion of human rights, peace and justice, are the other aims of this festival that will spred through the region in November and December, bringing music, theatre, cinema, lectures, art exhibition and much more.
